It is generally regarded as beneficial to add a XML sitemap to your Google Search Console (Formerly Webmaster Tools)
Why?

- You have more granular control with what you want indexing (although you should be addressing this in your robots.txt as well)
- It enables you to identify indexing issues – perhaps caused by your robots file
- It keeps your indexing fresh which assists when you update or add content
The process is relatively simple:

- Login to wordpress backend and click ‘SEO’
- Click ‘General’ menu and click ‘Feauture tab’
- See ‘XML sitemaps’ section then click ‘See the XML sitemap’
- Go to Google Webmaster Tools please select your website
- Go to Menu Crawl and click Sitemap On the left-hand side
- Copy the relevant URL and move to Google Search Console
- Press the red sitemap button and paste your URL in
- Continue in this form until all are done
